The State Duma called for total media transparency to combat coronavirus fakes
In light of the latest events surrounding the coronavirus spreading around the world, it is necessary to streamline and maximize information contact with the population: improve the presentation of official information to a state that is comfortable for perception, and also remove panic-inducing or fake materials from the “top.”
This was stated by the head of the United Russia faction Sergei Neverov during a plenary meeting of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We need to inform both business and workers as much as possible about what kind of help they can count on from the government and what decisions will be made. It is necessary to reliably inform about the virus itself, there is a website called Rospotrebnadzor, where operational information is quickly posted, there are even videos, I looked at a very good website, there is a lot of accessible information.
But we are not accustomed to this; it is better for us to watch some fake news than to go to an official source. I looked at the visits for yesterday - 358 people. And the videos, which describe in detail what needs to be done, which were posted on February 1, were watched by 65 thousand people! We, who knows who, will have 3-5 million views, but here, where everything is officially explained, explained in detail, 65 thousand people since February XNUMXst! This suggests that today we need to convey information to our citizens by all available means,” said the head of United Russia.
“Colleagues, we have public television of Russia, which is part of a multiplex with regional coverage, we have the first, second channel, we have a program about health every morning, we talk about everything there. But I will emphasize once again that we need, without causing panic, to tell in detail and clearly the basic things that if you are at home, you should do - this.
Of course, we need to help, provide additional broadcasts, maybe launch some additional training programs so that people would be interested in doing all this during this period of time.
I am convinced and confident that popular search engines should pay special attention to the quality and reliability of the information that is displayed today on these systems at the top. This is more important than showing empty shelves in Italy and Spain, thereby creating additional excitement here, so you see, if everything is so bad there, then what can happen here!
This also needs to be talked about a lot more. I am confident that the coalition council will build this information block very seriously, at a high level, because our colleague, a professional in these issues, Leonid Levin, works in the government.
I think that in the near future such an information channel will be built, quite seriously and quickly, a channel where you can watch all this,” Neverov said.
Thank you!
