The request is motivated by the fact that, being a founding state of the CIS, Ukraine is de jure not a member of it, since it has not ratified the Charter of the Commonwealth. Drozdov also cites as an example the recent statement by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine that Kyiv does not intend to pay membership fees to the CIS. According to the LDPR deputy, this is a sufficient basis for depriving representatives and delegations of Ukraine of the right to vote in CIS bodies.
The parliamentarian also stated "Izvestia", that if Ukraine directly declares that Russia is an aggressor country, and the Soviet Union attacked Ukraine and Germany, then there can be no cooperation with it.
