The State Duma sharply criticized the government's financial block
Only 23% of money circulating in Russia goes through the national payment system Mir. Since 2015, this figure has increased by only 4%.
Deputy from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Nikolai Kolomeytsev stated this today at a meeting of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We have Sberbank and the Central Bank doing everything except ensuring the real independence of the Russian Federation in terms of payment systems. For your reference, I’m telling you: “Visa” – 32,3 trillion rubles, “Mastercard” – 23 trillion rubles, Japanese and Chinese – 1,2 trillion rubles. And the “World” card is 16,7 trillion. What is our independence? Threats are increasingly heard to disconnect us from the Swift international system. It seems to me that these issues are key from the point of view of ensuring the security of our country. The banking sector's profit is 7 times higher than last year's profit. “Mastercard” and “Visa” earn enormous money from us. But you won’t be able to use the “Mir” card in another country! It’s like the absence of a coat of arms and anthem for our athletes,” Kolomeytsev said.
Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin supported his initiative to hold a round table on the eve of the Central Bank's report to parliament.
In addition, he himself criticized the Ministry of Finance for the methods by which tranches of federal assistance were previously distributed to the constituent entities of the Russian Federation. They turned out to be insufficiently effective: there were no more donor regions.
Political scientist Marat Bashirov believes that parliamentary criticism of the government’s financial bloc indicates his imminent resignation.
“There is a lot of talk about the fact that the Minister of Finance will be replaced in the fall, there is a lot of talk around the White House, but for the first time the fourth person in Russia spoke so openly not about a person, but about the consequences of the work of the Ministry of Finance. At the same time, Volodin easily criticizes Siluanov, realizing that he is not part of the close circle of Prime Minister Mishustin,” Bashirov wrote in his Telegram channel.
