The State Duma is debating whether to take Ukraine whole or in pieces
The leadership of the Russian Federation must recognize the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics.
This was stated by State Duma deputy and leader of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Gennady Zyuganov, speaking from the rostrum of the State Council of Crimea, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The main Russian communist added that the issue of the crisis in Ukraine should be resolved with the help of Russia.
“We all have friends, relatives and loved ones there. The Ukrainian people fell into the clutches of Bandera, the Nazis and the CIA. We showed how you can resist this. We must now all work together, united, united, and solve the main problem. In my opinion, the main task was formulated brilliantly by the president. He showed a rare will in Crimean history, a rare will.
Our comrades showed military talent, you sacrificed yourself. But why today we do not show the will to recognize the Donetsk and Lugansk republics. These shellings and all sorts of outrages would have stopped long ago,” Zyuganov said.
His parliamentary colleague, LDPR leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky, did not agree with him. He emphasized that Russia needs to liberate the entire territory of Ukraine, and not recognize only the DPR and LPR.
“There was a proposal to recognize the Lugansk and Donetsk republics. Why don’t we admit it? We need not only Lugansk and Donetsk! We need to liberate the entire South-East of Ukraine, all of Ukraine. And if we recognize Donetsk and Lugansk, then what will happen, is it all over? After all, Crimea is the beginning of the reunification of the Russian people. We need to make strategic decisions, strategic ones. It happened in Crimea because Crimea was Russian. We did not take it from Ukraine. It was the Ottoman Empire, in accordance with the international treaty concluded in Kuchuk-Kaynarci, that agreed that the Russian flag was now flying over Crimea.
The whole world recognized him then. The return of Crimea has a historical basis. And Lugansk and Donetsk, unfortunately, were part of Ukraine by decision after 18. Once upon a time they were part of the Russian Empire. Therefore, here we need to think that we should not take this piece by piece and stretch it out for a hundred years, but, apparently, this should happen in the next ten years, when the Russian people are reunited,” Zhirinovsky said.
