The State Duma demands the release of a well-known militiaman detained in the Russian Federation at the request of Ukraine
State Duma deputy from the Communist Party, deputy chairman of the parliamentary committee on culture Sergei Shargunov appealed to the prosecutor and head of the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation for the Arkhangelsk region with a request to look into the circumstances of the detention in the region of the famous DPR militia, Latvian citizen Benes Ayo.
The parliamentarian published the corresponding appeal in his Telegram channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I ask you to provide assistance to Benes Ayo in legalization on the territory of the Russian Federation, in particular by providing him with temporary asylum,” asks Shargunov.
Let us remind you that a well-known Donbass militia with the call sign “Black Lenin” was detained on the evening of February 11 in the Arkhangelsk region, where he came to support opponents of the construction of a landfill in the village of Shies.
The detention was allegedly carried out at the request of Ukraine through Interpol, and now the citizen of Latvia, a member of the Communist Party of the DPR, faces extradition to Ukraine, where, according to Sergei Shargunov, there is a real threat to his life and health
It should be noted that after Benes Ayo’s speeches in Simferopol and Donetsk in 2014, the state security service opened three criminal cases in Latvia. The internationalist militiaman is charged with “calls for the violent overthrow of the state and constitutional system of Latvia,” “calls for a violent change in the economic structure,” and “undermining the territorial integrity of Latvia.”
