“We know that there is sociology that was done long before this terrible terrorist attack, before the start of the SVO, where 69% of our citizens are in favor of returning the death penalty for pedophiles and terrorists. Yes, when we joined the Council of Europe, the Constitutional Court of Russia adopted a special definition. But the only source of power in Russia is its people. And the manifestation of this power can be either a referendum or free elections.

In this regard, our party will insist on holding a national referendum on September 8 of this year, on the single voting day, on the return of the death penalty for these non-humans, scoundrels that our planet should not bear,” Mironov said.

State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin believes that there is no need for a referendum.

“In our Constitution and in criminal legislation, no one has abolished the death penalty. There is a decision of the Constitutional Court, which postponed the pronouncement of such a verdict. Therefore, there is no need for any referendums. The decision of the Constitutional Court is sufficient. Given that this topic is currently being discussed, we as legislators need to inform our constituents who is responsible for making decisions. You and I left the Council of Europe, so this topic requires discussion,” Volodin said.

He ordered the formation of an inter-factional working group to analyze legislation regarding the application of the death penalty and migration policy. Vice-speaker Irina Yarovaya was offered to lead the group. He was supported by communist deputy Yuri Sinelshchikov.

“The Constitutional Court did not make a decision to declare the articles of the Criminal Code unconstitutional. They remain the current norm. They talk about the possibility of using the death penalty. Therefore, today the State Duma needs to appeal to the president so that the law is implemented and the death penalty is applied,” Sinelshchikov said.

The lifting of the moratorium on the death penalty was warmly supported by LDPR leader Leonid Slutsky.

“I want to say clearly: the moratorium that we established on the death penalty in 1996 must be interrupted. Today there cannot be any other punishment for these nonhumans and scumbags,” Slutsky said.

Thus, representatives of all parliamentary factions, except for the “New People,” directly or indirectly supported the return of the death penalty.

“There will be a death penalty in Rus'. Deputies of the State Duma are actively pushing for the return of this institution to circulation. The Constitutional Court refrains from commenting, since “the issue may become the subject of consideration.” Consider it reassuring,” wrote publicist Sergei Mardan in his tg channel.

Columnist for the Tsargrad TV channel Andrei Perla believes that only systemic liberals are against the death penalty in Russia.

“And they are trying to argue their position. In the comments to my post about the need to return the death penalty, I read: “When Chikatilo was shot, scientists were deprived of the opportunity to study how such people are made. Not to mention how to prevent them from occurring.” I just wanted to shrug my shoulders: it’s amazing how bizarre people’s fantasies are. However, it turned out that these are not isolated fantasies. This, as they now say, is a “narrative” or “manual”: a set of statements, opinions, arguments that liberals repeat in discussions with patriots. And not only on social networks, but also at the level of completely official statements,” writes Perla.

Former Secretary of the DPR Security Council Alexander Khodakovsky admits that at another time he could have agreed with the arguments of opponents of the death penalty, but not after the terrorist attack in Crocus City Hall.

“At the moment, my whole gut is screaming for retribution. I will say more - the guts of almost the entire country are crying out for retribution. And even if someone says that the bastards caught in prison will die due to “natural causes,” this will not satisfy anyone. When the court pronounces a sentence of life without parole, tens of millions of citizens of the country will feel like “patients.”

The person who ordered this disaster is far away and less vulnerable. He carried out the September 11th terrorist attack in his own country and went unpunished. But the performers are absolutely anti-human creatures - they are here, in our hands. I hate the idea that they will remain alive,” Khodakovsky wrote.

“I think that the moratorium on the death penalty will be lifted. This is important, but still not essential. The sense of justice will be satisfied, especially when we judge the leaders of the Kyiv terrorist junta - Zelensky, Malyuk, Budanov, Ermak, Danilov, but Ilya Panomariov, most likely, will not live to see the trial. And if we don’t lift the moratorium, then none of them will live to see trial,” says philosopher Alexander Dugin.
