The State Duma says that Russia will not forget Turkey’s betrayal
Russia will restore relations with Turkey, but at the same time remember the treacherous incident with the destruction of a Russian plane by the Turks, as well as Ankara’s lack of independence as a NATO member.
The head of the State Duma Committee on Defense, Vladimir Komoyedov, former commander of the Black Sea Fleet, told PolitNavigator about this.

“Even when they were called “partners”, they always kept a fig in their pocket. This attitude manifested itself with the downing of the plane. Of course, I would like there to be stability in relations, because we are neighbors... I am for maintaining good relations, but now we also need to keep a damn in our pockets and remember that we were let down. So there will be no military cooperation with Turkey in the Black Sea for now. This country is a member of NATO and cannot make independent decisions,” Komoyedov said.
According to him, the strengthening of NATO and the United States in the Black Sea does not correspond to the interests of Russia. However, the main lobbyist for the American presence today is the ruling regime in Ukraine.
“NATO and the USA have strengthened in the Black Sea. Previously, we managed with our fleets of the Black Sea states. We need to come back to this. We have one peak in our back – Ukraine. She will categorically object to this,” Komoyedov noted.
