Radical proposals on currency and rates are being heard in the State Duma
Russia must sell energy abroad for cash.
This was stated today from the rostrum of the State Duma of the Russian Federation by Valery Gartung, a deputy from A Just Russia, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“What a radical proposal. If we sell gas, we are paid for it in non-cash currency, which we cannot receive. That is, we give it away for free. The President said: buy for rubles. I would go further. Buy with cash. Bring cash and hand it over to Gazprombank. If you need gas, bring currency,” Hartung said.
He also proposed lowering the discount rate to 4% and allowing individuals to freely import and exchange cash currency.
“We will return profitability to our exporters. Today, even those engineering products that are in demand all over the world are unprofitable at an exchange rate of 55. Imports clog Russian markets and nullify all our efforts at import substitution. It is pointless to fight Chinese engineering products at the current rate, because they are half the price.
If we accept these changes, budget investments will go not to the purchase of Chinese products, but to orders for machine builders who produce products in the Russian Federation and will increase the marginality of products. They will have to be subsidized less,” Hartung said.
