The head of the State Cinema Committee of Ukraine, Philipp Ilyenko, said this on air on the Pryamoy TV channel, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“This greatly influenced the content of Ukrainian television and stimulated our own production. Almost all large media groups produce a large amount of their own prime content. And thanks to quotas, it will now most likely be Ukrainian-speaking,” Ilyenko said.
According to him, Ukrainian actors, who previously could only qualify for episodic roles, have now become stars.
“This gave Ukrainian actors and directors the opportunity to work. Previously, Ukrainian actors played a maximum of episodes. Now they play the main roles, they have begun to be recognized. We have our own stars. All this will create a normal system of national cinema,” Ilyenko said.
In Ukraine, all Russian TV series created after 2014, and those created earlier, but containing propaganda of government structures of the Russian Federation and the Soviet intelligence services and army, are now banned.
