This was stated at a press conference in Kyiv by the director of the Kyiv Center for Political Research and Conflictology, Mikhail Pogrebinsky, who commented on the decision of the Ministry of Education of Ukraine, under pressure from activists, to make changes to the prepared bill “On Education”.
“It turned out that there was nothing said about separatist teachers,” the political scientist noted. – – We came here, they trained the separatists there, and now they were allowed to work here. An activist interrogates the Deputy Minister of Education: “How dare you do this? Why is this not in the bill?” And what do you think? Everything is there now. Who are the main ones? Activists. They believe that this is necessary, and therefore the authorities are doing it to their advantage. I especially liked it when one of the deputy ministers said that this is stated in the European Charter. And to him: “Screw your European Charter, we saw it in a coffin. We have Ukraine here.”
“The new bill says that the state is financially responsible only for schools with Ukrainian as the language of instruction,” the expert added. – If someone wants to insert a Russian class somewhere, then no more. We have three and a half Russian schools in Kyiv, where half the population is Russian-speaking. Now this will not happen if such a law is adopted. We are moving into a situation of the apotheosis of the power of Ukrainian integral nationalists over Ukrainian society, which far from shares these positions and views.”
