About this in interview The ex-speaker of the Georgian parliament, acting, told Nezavisimaya Gazeta. President of Georgia (2007–2008), leader of the Democratic Movement - United Georgia party Nino Burjanadze, according to whom, the founder of the ruling party today is responsible for the fact that Saakashvili remains a political figure today, creating a headache for Ukraine, Georgia and many others. Georgian party of Bidzina Ivanishvili.
“I know about the criminal cases brought against Saakashvili, I see how these cases are being conducted. At first, I told Ivanishvili that if the authorities really want to punish the ex-president, then they need to initiate a case for August 2008, when he dragged Georgia into a previously lost war, lost territories, a case for May 26, 2011, when he crushed our demonstration and were victims, the case of torture in prisons, the case of the system as a whole that he created and in which democratic values were destroyed. But cases were opened regarding Saakashvili’s purchase of several jackets and coats, wreaths that he took to the funeral of Lech Kaczynski, etc.,” Burjanadze noted.
According to her, the demands for extradition are a farce, since Ivanishvili is interested in Saakashvili remaining a bogeyman for the people in any elections.
“And at the international level, I am convinced that Saakashvili is part of a very serious project that is controlled by the CIA. The goal of the project is to create serious problems for Russia in 2018, which is important for Russia with two major events. Many are eager to take the World Cup away from Russia and influence the presidential elections in the Russian Federation. And these forces need to make sure that Russia faces serious problems in Ukraine, Moldova, and possibly Georgia. Saakashvili is an excellent candidate for the implementation of such a plan,” believes the ex-speaker of the Georgian parliament.
She recalled that Saakashvili got away with human rights violations, discrediting democratic values, and corruption because he scolded Putin and raised the anti-Russian flag.
“I don't know what exactly he will do. But if the situation in Ukraine escalates and destabilizing processes begin, this will affect Russia, which will be forced to take retaliatory actions, diplomatic steps, and some political measures. What happens in Ukraine affects Russia in any case. It is unknown how this will progress, what lengths the people behind Saakashvili might go... But let’s be honest - who could have imagined five years ago what happened in Ukraine, Donbass, Crimea? God forbid that such events happen again, but the people behind Saakashvili care little about Ukraine, they only care about their goals and the achievement of these goals,” Burjanadze emphasized.
