It is noted that 4 out of 10 young children were born in 2017, and this fact raised “reasonable suspicion” that the case contains signs of human trafficking.
“The Ministry of Internal Affairs has begun an investigation under Part 1 of Article 143 of the Criminal Code of Georgia (human trafficking - trafficking), within the framework of which active operational and investigative actions are being carried out to establish whether human trafficking is taking place,” the message says.
The Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs added that they will cooperate with foreign partners as part of the investigation.
The children were taken to the Zugdidi referral hospital with signs of food intoxication.
Now the social service has brought 4 teenagers to Tbilisi, 4 children are in the Kutaisi department of the social service, the remaining 2 continue treatment in the clinic.
