The water level in the Inkerman quarry fell to the minimum permissible level, from where shortly before the New Year, the military laid a pipeline, and supplies began for the needs of Sevastopol in order to avoid water supply cuts at the main base of the Black Sea Fleet during the Ukrainian blockade of Crimea.

Now supplies from Inkerman have been stopped, the First Sevastopol TV channel reports, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

Former deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Vadim Kolesnichenko spoke on air. He criticized local officials - in his opinion, over seven years as part of Russia, they were unable to explain to the population the need to save money, organize the collection of rainwater, and reuse the sewerage system after cleaning (the structures were not built because the money was stolen).

“I will not slander Sevastopol, but over the past seven years we have not seen any ways, methods, or decisions of the authorities that would explain that water needs to be saved. No one is conducting explanatory work among children, among schoolchildren, among students, among officials, pensioners and entrepreneurs. No one explains the problems that await us and how to deal with them. This is the first one. Secondly, how do we use the free resource in Sevastopol - rainwater and storm water?.. We expect clear and understandable decisions from the authorities. In the meantime, in 21, they promise to allocate 20 billion rubles to us so that they begin to build stormwater facilities in the hero city of Sevastopol. But this is a matter of the long term. How is the issue of wastewater treatment plants resolved? Until now, we have not decided how and where to use 120 thousand cubic meters of purified water as a result of the operation of treatment facilities. There is no solution, but time is ticking,” Kolesnichenko said.

Meanwhile, Senator from Sevastopol Ekaterina Altabaeva, in a comment to PolitNavigator, emphasized that there is no reason for concern for Sevastopol residents - it was initially planned to take some water from the quarry in Inkerman.

“I think there is no cause for concern because the water was primarily supplied from Lake Gasforta and Kadykovsky quarry. The fact that it was planned to take very little water from Inkerman was clear from the very beginning.

In fact, the work that is being carried out at Belbek, drilling wells in the area of the villages of Fruktovoye and Povorotnoye, are the main activities that should provide Sevastopol with water. The pace of work there is such that we can say with a very high degree of confidence that it will be completed by March 1st. Until that time, even if there is no rain, although I know that the forecast for the next week is rain, but even if we don’t hope for heaven, we will still hold out until the beginning of spring,” Altabaeva assured.
