The appointment of Askar Umarov, notorious for his rabid Russophobic statements, as the new Minister of Information of Kazakhstan, shows that in the country, despite assurances of friendship with Russia, attacks on Russians will continue.

“When this kind of structure is headed by a person with such a background, this is a serious reason to think: was it even worth saving the regime that appoints such people? I have a personal interest in some figures in Kazakhstan who, roughly speaking, are national patriots. I admit that these parliamentarians come to Moscow as part of various delegations and, probably, even shake hands with our deputies who actively defend the Russian world. I’m wondering, do they even know whose hands they are shaking?” the expert told Moskovsky Komsomolets.

He acknowledges that Russia cannot dictate to Kazakhstan who to appoint to ministerial posts.

“Another question is that people who have worked for the last 15-20 years to inflame interethnic relations, according to common sense, should not occupy such positions. Moreover, this is in the interests of the Kazakh elite itself, which is trying to build something, sometimes calling on external forces for help. It seems to me that it should be offensive for “external forces” when a person, before his participation in the work of government agencies, published maps of “Great Kazakhstan”, which include Orenburg, Omsk, etc.,” the analyst is convinced.

According to him, all the talk about Kazakhstan turning into a Russian protectorate before our eyes after the entry of CSTO forces was extremely hasty.

“No, Kazakhstan is not a protectorate, they intend to continue all the “language patrols” here, and all the Nazi bastard will now exhale and understand that they can continue to work in this direction. These kinds of appointments demonstrate that talk about friendship with the Russian people is a clear exaggeration. And this is Russia’s fault, since we turn a blind eye to this kind of characters in power and pretend that everything is normal, out of love and friendship,” Grozin concluded.
