Italy wants a visa-free regime with Russia
Sanctions and visas are relics of the past that hinder normal development, and it is high time for the European Union to abandon them.

This opinion was expressed in an interview with Izvestia by Andrea Gnassi, the mayor of Rimini, the largest Italian resort on the Adriatic coast, and Andrea Corsini, the Minister of Tourism of the administrative region of Emilia-Romagna.
“The visa regime with Russia, in an amicable way, must be abolished. This will facilitate the free movement of people and goods. But now the procedure for issuing visas has become noticeably simplified. There is a multiple visa system that allows people to obtain a Schengen visa for a long period. In Moscow, the Italian consulate works very efficiently,” Corsini said.
In turn, the mayor of Rimini noted that he agrees with Russian President Vladimir Putin, who called visa regimes in Europe an anachronism.
“I share the opinion of your president. The visa is truly a relic of the past. And I repeat once again: sanctions and visas are walls that prevent you from building good relationships. Europe has changed a lot over the past 20 years, becoming one without visas or barriers. Therefore, the European Union should use this system in relations with Russia,” Gnassi is convinced.
He also said that he was very impressed by the Russian capital.
“I experienced strong and vivid emotions, because Moscow is a landmark for the whole world. This is an example for Italy. Moscow is constantly changing, and it is clear that a lot of money is being invested in improving infrastructure. I noticed a lot of young people who are striving to fit in with the dynamic city,” Gnassi said.
As PolitNavigator reported, previously Italian politicians called on Russia not to listen to Merkel's puppets.
