In Europe they like to applaud the outrages against the religious feelings of believers in Ukraine and Russia, but they do not tolerate this kind of antics at home.

Ukrainian Yana Zhdanova, an activist of the Femen movement, known for holding scandalous exhibitionist actions both in Ukraine and in the EU countries, spoke about this in an interview with Apostrophe.

The publication asked whether there is a difference between holding actions in Europe and Ukraine, and how society reacts to them there and here.

“By the way, there is no significant difference,” the activist admits. – When we came from Ukraine to France or other European countries to do actions, everyone shouted: “Bravo! These girls are great.” When we did actions in Ukraine, and news came to France about it, everyone also clapped their hands, said how we were doing everything right, protesting against the dictatorship in Russia and Ukraine, they are all such freedom fighters... But when we came to France and started doing the same thing here, then people suddenly began to be indignant and say: “What is happening here? We don’t need you here, we have our own laws here.” For example, we were reproached for the action in Notre-Dame de Paris. But when Pussy Riot held an action in a church in Moscow, the French supported them very much and were indignant that the girls were imprisoned for 2 years for an action in a church.”

“When Femen did the same thing in France, people started shouting that it was too sacred a place. Or the reaction to the cutting down of the cross in Kyiv. The Europeans were very supportive of this action, they said that this was an act of democracy, a manifestation of extreme atheism, it was so cool, but when in the Vatican I kidnapped the baby Jesus from the cradle, they threw tomatoes at me, they said that the place was too sacred, and why did I raise my hand to the shrine? . In fact, it turns out hypocrisy: if this happens somewhere far away, then the Europeans support it, because “we are such democrats and for freedom of speech, expression of will,” and if all this happens in our country, then “why did you come here and touch the sacred?” And people who express support for the right-wing forces say: “Why are you coming in large numbers, go back to your own Ukraine,” Zhdanova laments.
