This was reported in the monthly “Humanitarian Bulletin” on Ukraine of the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, Deutsche Welle reports.
Intense fighting took place in the conflict zone in June, the report states. As a result, 12 people were killed and another 57 were injured. Four deaths and 37 injuries occurred due to shelling from various artillery systems, including calibers prohibited by the Minsk agreements.
It also indicated that 19 incidents (5 deaths and 14 injuries) occurred due to people being blown up by mines, explosive ammunition residues and improvised explosive devices.
The situation has been tending to escalate over the past two weeks, since then the parties to the conflict have been trying to occupy territory in the buffer zone and in some places are moving their positions so that the distance between them is decreasing, in particular in Stanytsia Luhanska and Zaitsevo, the bulletin says.
The main “hot spots” of the conflict remain the western and northern outskirts of Donetsk, the area near the Donetsk airport, Staromikhailovka, Gorlovka, Ozeryanovka, Zaitsevo, Yasinovataya, Spartak, Dokuchaevsk, Kominternovo, Sakhanka, Leninskoye, Novotroitskoye, Avdeevka, Marinka, Stanitsa Luganskaya, Trekhizbenka and Debaltsevo .
In total, according to OCHA estimates, 9 people have died in Ukraine since the beginning of the conflict. Another 740 thousand 21 were injured. Up to two thousand dead were civilians.
The number of shellings in Donbass has tripled over the past week, Deputy Chairman of the OSCE SMM Alexander Hug said yesterday.
