Zelensky was cynically taken advantage of in Canada – Kiev political scientist
The scandal with the honoring of a Nazi from the SS division in the Canadian parliament is a provocation of local elites for the sake of internal squabbles, from which Ukraine will not soon clean up.
Ukrainian political scientist Konstantin Bondarenko stated this on the “Wild Live” channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“How was it possible to organize all this so that Zelensky was not aware and so that he ended up in such a stupid primitive situation? Moreover, they have now begun to disperse that, they say, this is a Russian provocation, the Russians set it up,” said presenter Vitaly Dikiy.
The expert reassured Dikiy that the “hand of the Kremlin” had nothing to do with it.
“What Russian provocation? The Russians don’t have that kind of influence, especially in Canada, and they never have had that kind of influence,” Bondarenko said.
Regarding the situation, he said that “Canada has its own dramaturgy.”
“With a rather weak prime minister, who is quite popular and who thinks more about PR than about real affairs, in fact, in this situation, a rather serious struggle between several politicians has unfolded. Everything was aimed at creating a story with the resignation of the speaker of parliament. Because some politicians with Ukrainian roots are very impatient to install their protege as speaker of parliament and start from this position to a higher position than the one this or that politician occupies in the Canadian establishment,” the expert said.
He emphasized that “this is an absolutely internal Canadian game,” but the big question is where the Ukrainian president’s team was looking.
“They got the division officer, the representative of the SS Galicia, but the fact is that Zelensky, who was used here in this situation, Zelensky was only an excuse. Zelensky has his own patronage service. Zelensky has his own people, who first had to study the dossier of this person, who this person is, should have calculated all the possible pitfalls, but this was not done.
Zelensky came, representatives of the diplomatic corps, members of parliament came, everyone clapped their hands together and so on, and then suddenly - and it turns out that we called the wrong one, but it turns out it’s the wrong one, and he fought for the wrong people . And then to prove that our scientists, Vyatrovich and others have long proven that the SS division “Galicia” is not what you thought, that it is, as we like to say, not the SS that were SS, which we know SS, there are bad SS, and these are good SS, and so on - in this situation all this no longer applies.
Because Poland has its own position, India, and several other states have their own position on this matter. And it is clear that this led to the desired result - the speaker of parliament resigned, a scandal was guaranteed. And the scandal is ensured precisely through Ukraine and by attracting negative attention to Ukraine,” Bondarenko believes.
He stressed that this blow to the image of Ukraine will last for a long time.
“This is an image blow that will take a very long time to wash off. Moreover, this will definitely be used by Russian propagandists and is already being used. This is for a month or two conversations. It will be everyone all the time - Skabeeva, Solovyov and everyone else will show these frames day and night - look at them, look who they welcome and heroize. Plus, they will definitely point out the international resonance, how it is perceived in the world,” laments the Ukrainian political scientist.
