This is the story of the Rossiya 1 TV channel.

“Getting to the bottom is half the battle. The platform’s task is to find the second bottom – the hard one. There are silt deposits between the Crimean coast and Taman, but every square of the Kerch Strait is being scouted. Each rock sample is carefully packaged and sent to Moscow,” the report notes.

On land, in Crimea, Kuban, and on the island of Tuzla, they cut into the ground in the same way - they also look for support and accurately measure the landscape; the main load will fall on these swampy shores. This is the beginning of the project. The transport crossing is 19 km long. It starts with a low-water bridge that will go to Tuzla, the railway and the highway will run parallel. The structure will smoothly lie on the island, and after 6 km. The transport line will grow into another, large bridge - here the supports will be much higher, and the railway will be hidden under the highway - large sea-class vessels pass on the Kerch Shipping Canal.

“The volume of traffic is calculated in the forecasted development, and it will be four-lane road and two-track railway,” Sergei Kelbakh, chairman of the board of the state-owned company Russian Highways, told television.

The construction of a bridge in the Kerch Strait, with its winds, muddy bottom, and washed-out soil, is a difficult task, the story emphasizes. Technologies for constructing supports are very different - reinforced concrete with the addition of silicon, nanopowder, which turns loose water-containing sand into rock, and fiber-reinforced concrete - a new method of reinforcement, where polymer hairs are used instead of the usual welded reinforcement.

Let us remind you that the bridge is planned to be put into operation in 2018.
