“Several hundred workers of Kharkov utility companies came out to the walls of the City Council to express their support for Gennady Kernes and wish him a speedy recovery,” the mayor’s office said.
“According to them, with their action they also want to demonstrate to the radical forces who are threatening to seize the city hall building that Kharkov residents are united in their desire to defend peace and tranquility in their home city. And that even now, when the mayor is temporarily unable to govern Kharkov, all public services work under the motto of Gennady Kernes: “To love Kharkov is to work for the people,” says the press service.
According to estimates by journalist Vyacheslav Mavrichev, about half a thousand utility workers gathered under the walls of the city hall. He wrote about this on a Facebook page. According to them, they are going to stand all day today and tomorrow. “They couldn’t be called particularly joyful,” noted social media users who also attended the rally.
As Navigator reported, on April 30, the mayor of Kharkov, Gennady Kernes, who is being treated after an assassination attempt in one of the Israeli clinics, underwent lung surgery. A day after the surgery, the attending doctors of the mayor of Kharkov give no more than 30 percent guarantees that Kernes will survive.
