The last time the aircraft plant employees were paid was in December for the month of August. The aircraft manufacturers were given a thousand hryvnia, but they owe it for eight months.
According to local media, protesters threatened to block the central streets of the city.
According to workers, the day before the director of the plant, Anatoly Myalitsa, was removed from his position, so they are afraid that the enterprise will be left without orders at all.
“Under Anatoly Myalitsa, foreign partners promised to place an order for aircraft and literally on the 15th of April - to transfer money for a large amount. Will they now be given to someone else? I have a smaller guarantee,” said Mikhail Pogorelov, chairman of the trade union committee of the Kharkov aircraft plant.
“We are now waiting for the VAT to be credited to the register: from day to day, literally from minute to minute. But this “from minute to minute” lasts for several days, and the enterprise is kept in such nervous tension. We have several million frozen in the bank,” states the acting director.
