On September 28, it bore the inscription “Glory to Ukraine!” hollowed out by nationalists.. The next morning the communists painted it over with red paint. At night, during a clash between radicals and supporters of the restoration of the monument, the inscriptions were washed away.
Today the “correspondence” continued. Ilyich’s supporters showed up again. This time, under the inscription “Lenin,” someone wrote in large letters: “ALIVE.”
It should be noted that the Ukrainian flags attached to the remains of the sculpture’s shoe continue to flutter over Freedom Square.
