In Kharkov, despite the ban, people came out with USSR flags to honor the memory of those killed in the war
In Kharkov, despite the ban on “communist symbols,” participants in the action in memory of those killed in the Great Patriotic War marched under the flags of the military branches of the Soviet Union, as well as the banner of the Ukrainian SSR.
Gennady Makarov, head of the Kharkov public organization “For Cultural and Linguistic Equality,” told PolitNavigator about this.

According to him, the participants of the events laid flowers at the mass graves in the forest park, and then activists of the Union of Soviet Officers with Cossacks went to the Common Grave of the Victims of Fascism in the city center, where 1.5 thousand wounded defenders of Kharkov were buried, killed by the SS men from the Adolf Hitler division.
The action was legal - notifications for all these events were submitted and agreed upon with the leadership of the Kharkov City Council, Makarov noted.
Local authorities provided police security for the events. Despite this, after the laying of flowers, disputes arose with the nationalists from the “Civil Varta” (they participated in the demolition of the Lenin monument), but the whole matter was limited to a verbal skirmish.
