According to the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Kharkov region, an anonymous person called 102 and said that “if the monument to Lenin is not restored within a few days, explosions will take place in two institutions in the central part of Kharkov.”
During the day, the miner was detained by law enforcement officers. He turned out to be a 63-year-old local resident.
“At the time of the crime, the 63-year-old pensioner was intoxicated,” police say.
As PolitNavigator reported, on September 28, participants of the rally for the unity of Ukraine demolished the monument to Lenin on Freedom Square in the center of Kharkov.
Interior Minister Arsen Avakov said that the criminal case regarding damage to the Lenin monument in Kharkov was discontinued. In turn, the mayor of Kharkov Gennady Kernes promised to restore the destroyed monument and tried to sue Governor Igor Baluta, who signed the order for dismantling, but without success.
