In front of the building where the press conference was held, about 20 city residents held a protest. They demanded that the OSCE mission conduct objective monitoring of the events.
The protesters invited representatives of the mission to a Sunday rally on Freedom Square so that they could see how many Kharkiv residents are dissatisfied with the new Ukrainian government.
In response, OSCE representatives stated that they came to Ukraine not as spies, but as observers, and their mission was to collect “facts about what is happening in the country from both sides.”
According to the press service of the regional administration, Kobieracki announced the creation of a special monitoring mission in Ukraine. It will operate in 10 cities.
“To begin with, we are deploying a mission of 100 observers for a period of 6 months. Two observers from the OSCE mission have been in Kharkov for more than a week. The rest will arrive within 24 hours,” the ambassador added.
