At this meeting, it was planned to interview witnesses, but they did not appear in court. Representatives of the UN and OSCE were present in the hall.
Spartak Golovachev's lawyer, Dmitry Tikhonenkov, reminded those present in the hall that Spartak had been on a hunger strike for the 23rd day and invited the judge to hear information from his client about his state of health. Golovachev told those present in the hall that he went on a hunger strike on February 23, and since March 12 he has not been able to move. He agrees to glucose injections only before dates.
“I plan to continue my hunger strike. After all, I do this not for my own sake, but because human rights are being violated. People were divided into “ours” and “not ours”. No one has been punished for the seizure of buildings and murders on the Maidan, and we have been in pre-trial detention for almost a year. Most of my comrades are seriously ill, many of us are the only breadwinners in our families. My protest is to justice itself, and not about the conditions of detention,” Golovachev concluded his speech.
Tikhonenkov put forward a petition to change the preventive measure and recalled that Article 294, Part 1 of the Criminal Code, under which Spartak Golovachev is being held, does not imply mandatory detention and drew attention to the fact that those involved in cases who are released on bail conscientiously visit court hearings.
The prosecutor sees no reason to change the preventive measure, because “the risks have not changed.”
Judge Sergei Didenko announced the decision that the preventive measure for defendants Golovachev, Kalugin and Pigorev will not be changed. After listening to the decision of the judge, Spartak Golovachev said: “I am going on a dry hunger strike.”
