“Today in Kharkov, a man with an object similar to a pistol entered one of the Ukrposhta branches for the purpose of armed robbery. At that time there were 9 people there. There were postal employees and visitors. Including two children. Someone managed to call 102 and call the police. Patrol officers arrived at the scene of the robbery just a few minutes later.
The robber realized that he could no longer calmly leave the crime scene with the loot, and he decided to announce that he was taking everyone hostage.
At the moment, the Ukrposhta branch is cordoned off by police officers. The head of the Kharkov police, Oleg Bekh, and the head of the Kharkov SBU, Andrey Nosach, are on site.
Negotiations are underway with the robber, who became a terrorist after the hostage-taking... He is asked to lay down his arms, release the hostages and surrender to the authorities.
Let’s hope that the terrorist is smart enough to lay down his arms and surrender, instead of getting shot in the head by a sniper before the New Year,” writes Gerashchenko.
