A group of aggressive activists brutally beat a man for allegedly insulting the Ukrainian people. A video of the attack was published on YouTube.
According to those who were beating, the man somehow insulted the Ukrainian people with his actions, for which they began to beat him next to the monument. After the scuffle, several people in balaclavas took him by the arms and began to take him away from the monument. He received swearing and insults from the crowd, and a couple of times unknown people ran up to him and kicked him in the back, and one person even came up and spat in the man’s face. Although among those present there were those who defended the man and asked him not to beat him.
They also asked him where his comrade was. Suddenly, another group of people flew up to the man, and they began to force him to his knees. Some of them beat him on the legs to make him fall. They also demanded that the victim apologize to the Ukrainian people.
Then he was taken almost to the entrance to the Gosprom metro station. They threw him to the ground, hit him very hard on the head and face several times and said: “This will happen to everyone,” after which a guy stood up for him, who compared the beating men to animals. Red Cross volunteers immediately ran up and began to help the man, the 057 website reports.
“Those who beat citizens will be held accountable. Let’s not confuse the concepts: demolition of a monument and beating,” said the governor of the Kharkov region, Igor Baluta, commenting on what happened.
“What happened happened. We checked the communications: there are no cracks in the subway. Upon impact, as our architecture department explained, it hit the pedestal, which softened the force of the impact three times. I think there were professionals there. It happened as it happened. I wish it were a little different. I was worried about people and possible victims. There were actions (by the police - editor's note) against the people who were demolishing them. But my decision (on the demolition of the monument - editor's note) removed them. The people who brought him down are exempt from criminal prosecution,” Baluta said.
As PolitNavigator reported, yesterday A monument to Lenin was demolished in Kharkov. The criminal case into the dismantling was closed. According to Zaporozhye mayor Alexander Sin, the demolition of the monument was carried out by visitors, not Kharkov residents.
