This is reported by the local publication kherson.net.ua, which published on its pages a letter from a city resident who spoke about this incident.

“To be honest, after the police reform, I was sure that the system was collapsing and that our law enforcement officers were about to begin serving not themselves, but the citizens of the country. They were given every opportunity to fulfill their direct responsibilities - to help people. Are we striving for European values? Why, after the reform, did all the police demonstratively rescue cats by removing them from trees, but now they cannot help the driver in a difficult situation?

Yesterday in my native Kherson a minor but significant incident occurred. In the middle of the city, in forty-degree heat, my father (a resident of the region) stalled in his car (“Zhiguli”) near an intersection. All my father’s attempts to start an old car were in vain, and there were no caring people nearby who helped in any way. And then a patrol car appeared. Dad stopped them and asked them to PUSH the car so that it would start. To which the patrolmen said, I quote: “And well! You see how white our T-shirts are, we don’t want to get them dirty! You’re already somehow better!”

“White T-shirts” offered to call a tow truck (a service that not everyone can afford), silently got into the car and drove away.

The story didn't end there. A few minutes later, a foreign car with Donetsk license plates suddenly drove up to our broken car. The driver, almost the same age as my parents, came out of the car and quite calmly asked if my father needed his help. During the conversation, the man said that he was really from Donetsk, and moved here with the beginning of the war in Donbass.

Frankly, the unpleasant stereotypes were instantly destroyed. Dad asked him to push the car, to which the man agreed without discussion. The car started with a slight push and the father, thanking the man, was able to go home.

When dad told me this seemingly frivolous story, I heard great disappointment in his voice. Our police are so arrogant and indifferent that they are willing to leave a 50-year-old man in the middle of the street in incredible heat so as not to get his clothes dirty! Clothes, people!” the publication says.
