In Kherson, one of the leaders of the local Azerbaijani community, businessman Ilham Tagiyev, was brutally murdered.

The body was found in a Mercedes car belonging to Tagiyev.
On the night of August 17, Tagiyev drove his foreign car to a rented garage on Berislavskoye Highway in the regional center. There he was waylaid by criminals.
The middle-aged man was knocked to the ground with three blows to the head of a “hard, blunt object” and kicked, breaking three ribs.
Then they threw the body into the car, took the keys to the apartment in the building next door from his pocket and headed there.
According to eyewitnesses, after their visit everything in the apartment was turned upside down - sofas were overturned and carpets were torn off in search of hiding places.
The wife and daughter of Ilham Tagiyev went to Azerbaijan to visit relatives. And the son lives in Kyiv. But, apparently, a lot of money could have been stolen: as a representative of a regional network of a large company selling semi-finished meat products, on Friday and Saturday the businessman collected proceeds from “points” throughout the region in order to subsequently transfer it to the supplier company.
The man transported the money in the trunk of his foreign car, and on weekends it could stay at his home. Therefore, police operatives admit that the robbery on the victim could have been carried out on a tip from an informant.
According to Sputnik-Azerbaijan, Ilham Tagiyev actively participated in the cultural and social life of ethnic Azerbaijanis in the Kherson region, helped improve the lives and find work for Crimean Tatars - refugees from Crimea.
