Forests may completely disappear in the Kherson region - there is no one to put out forest fires
A critical situation has developed with forests in the Kherson region: since last year, funding for forestry enterprises in the region has been completely stopped.

“Last year, the fire protection here was maintained at the expense of charitable donations from state forestry enterprises in the central and western regions of Ukraine, but this year the transfer of donations stopped,” the publication quotes the head of the regional forestry and hunting department of the Kherson region, Viktor Tishchenko.
He also said that state forestry enterprises are relieved of responsibility for eliminating fires in green areas on their territory.
“Fire trucks that are on balance will not be able to go to the fire due to their technical condition and lack of fuel. Added to this problem is the lack of personnel. Due to arrears in wages, some forestry workers quit their jobs after months of non-payment of salaries, while others went on vacation at their own expense. There is also no need to rely on help from the Ministry of Emergency Situations. By the time firefighters get from the regional center to the site of the fire, there will be nothing to put out,” the publication says.
