According to him, the fighters of such Tatar battalions must be well trained so that each one is “worth 10-15 Russian soldiers.”
“The Crimean Tatars, despite all our calls, are still leaving Crimea. And they are concentrated in different regions of Ukraine - Lviv region, Vinnitsa region and so on. We would like them to remain in the region close to Crimea. Let's say, in the Kherson region, in the Genichesk region. By the way, there are about 7-8 thousand Crimean Tatars there anyway.
But in order to ensure their safety, create your own military unit, especially since the Kherson region is to some extent reminiscent of the Lugansk region. There are also many people there who say that these are fraternal people, we will not fight with them. The point is that there should be a unit that would guard these settlers, would strengthen the Ukrainian presence there and, secondly, Crimea will be liberated one way or another, and we will not have to enter empty-handed.
There will still be no situation in Crimea, we must do our homework. The unit that we want to create must also have police functions. Because upon entering Crimea, it must control the observance of law and order.
We calculated that the maintenance of the battalion requires 23-24 million dollars. Where can I get this money? We are looking, but so far there is no particular result. In addition, they must be well prepared. Since there are few of us, one warrior should cost about 10-15 Russian soldiers - this is the second problem,” Dzhemilev said.
