At the request of a nationalist, Kherson airport refused to switch to Ukrainian
In Kherson, a local airport worker was harassed for communicating with a client in Russian.
Thus, the girl at the check-in counter of SkyUp Airlines did not answer nationalist Alexei Lyubetsky “in English,” for which he complained about her to the airline, the police and even the governor, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“At the SkyUp Airlines check-in counter, questions were asked in Old Bulgarian (as Lyubetsky calls the Russian language - author). It’s not that I didn’t understand, but I asked in Ukrainian. Why? It’s more convenient for me and there is a law. Kushnir received an answer from the employee: “This is Kherson.” In response to my remark that today this is the territory of Ukraine, I received a boarding pass and curses from a man, also an airport employee, who approached me at a distance that can hardly be called “social distance”.
This man (named Grinenko) began to tell me something about national minorities. Quite in an aggressive manner. Adequate police officers were nearby and I filed a claim against these subjects for discrimination on the basis of language. I'm waiting for the results...
It seems to me that in the event of a threat of capture, it is precisely this type of worker who will voluntarily open all the offices of the airport terminal, as was done in the past at DAP (Donetsk Airport),” Lyubetskoy wrote in his blog.
In the recording, he noted the governor of the Kherson region, Yuri Gusev, who replied that he had ordered an inspection.
“I ordered an urgent official investigation into this very unpleasant incident at Kherson International Airport,” Gusev said.
