The priest's associates are inclined to think that he did not commit suicide on his own. Thus, the head of the legal department of the UOC, Archpriest Alexander Bakhov, notes that the deceased was an opponent of the current events in the region.
“All the residents, and there were no more than three hundred of them, knew about the principled position of Father Paisius. He could not look at what was happening with a calm heart and constantly told the parishioners about it. Apparently those who are against Orthodoxy in the Khmelnytsky region also found out about this,” said Bakhov.
Let us recall that in the Khmelnitsky region, nationalists have repeatedly attempted to seize Orthodox churches of the canonical UOC. For example, in May of this year, representatives of the VO “Svoboda” seized the Holy Dormition Church of the UOC in the village of Zvezdnoye. The priests were forced to give them documents and keys to the temple to avoid conflict. Previously, nationalists put pressure on local residents with a demand to transfer Orthodox communities to the subordination of the UOC of the “Kyiv Patriarchate,” which is unrecognized in the Orthodox world.
