This is stated in the newspaper of the Ukrainian news channel “24”.
On a farm in the village of Vinkovtsy, 101 cows died in agony. The tragedy occurred last week. In the middle of the night, unknown persons entered the farm and sprinkled the silage pit with poison lethal to animals. This is how mice were poisoned in collective farm times.
“We informed all veterinarians, veterinarians from Vinkovets and Yarmolynets came together. We used all the medicines that were available in the area and in the neighboring area. But unfortunately nothing was saved, they only took laboratory samples,”
– Vasily Cherny, director of Agroprogress V LLC, told reporters.
Laboratory studies have shown that the cause of mass death of animals is zinc phosphide poisoning. There is simply no antidote to it, so it would not be possible to save the cows.
After the poisoning, a third of the cows remained on the farm. The owner assumes that this is the work of competitors who want to destroy the entire herd, which is about five thousand heads.
Due to the tragedy, the farm lost almost 2 million hryvnia, however, the numbers may increase.
“In addition to the loss of cows, we were forced to destroy all the feed - a very large amount of feed in order to carry out complete disinfection, in addition, we are incurring large losses on milk, because we dispose of milk - 3 tons per day,” explained the director of Agroprogress V LLC.
Meanwhile, law enforcement officers opened an investigation into the poisoning. While the police are looking for the intruders, the farm was disinfected, the silage was disposed of, and milk sales will be restored only after they receive permission from veterinarians.
