“The situation is bad. Half of the markets are closed due to a sharp jump in the dollar exchange rate. The economy needs to be stabilized immediately. Small businesses and, in particular, markets are performing sluggishly during a period of galloping inflation. At the same time, it would be worth switching to import-substituting goods. We need to develop our own production,” said Khmelnitsky City Council Secretary Konstantin Chernilevsky.
According to him, if the hryvnia exchange rate does not rise, incomes do not grow, then buyers will have nothing to do in the markets due to low purchasing power.
“Under the mayor's office, they (entrepreneurs - editor's note) have nothing to achieve - we do not influence the exchange rate. City authorities are always willing to help. But entrepreneurs can protest because their psychological state is quite serious,” says Chernilevsky.
