This was reported by the press service of the Khmelnitsky police.

“At a mass event to honor those killed during the Second World War, which took place near the Eternal Flame, a young man came with a bright red backpack decorated with a large coat of arms of the Soviet Union with the inscription “USSR” and a St. George ribbon, which caused indignation on the part of public activists who had gathered at the laying of flowers. Members of the police anti-conflict communication group managed to prevent a violent conflict between a 32-year-old Khmelnytsky resident and active members of the public. Law enforcement officers explained to the man that the accessories he used are prohibited in Ukraine, and took him to the Khmelnitsky police department to clarify all the circumstances of the incident,” the regional police reported.

At the moment, the issue of entering information about the incident into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations is being resolved. They are going to initiate a criminal case against the guy with the red backpack - Part 1 of Article 436-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (production, distribution, as well as public use of symbols of communist, national socialist (Nazi) totalitarian regimes).

Currently, evidence is being collected and witnesses are being interviewed.
