In Kyiv they explained why Poroshenko’s speech at the UN failed
If Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko had brought to the UN a ready-made project for a peaceful settlement of the conflict and showed serious intentions and not whining, the entire General Assembly would have given a standing ovation.
This opinion was expressed by the head of the Public Audit NGO Maxim Goldarb on the air of the NewsOne channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“On the one hand, at a meeting of the UN Security Council, at a meeting of the UN General Assembly, it is necessary to raise the topics that he raised. This is logical from the point of view of the direction of his foreign policy, because it is Poroshenko who is responsible for this in Ukraine, even the awake Klimkin. He said what he could at least say something about. What could he be talking about? Everything continues in the same circle - sanctions, let's strengthen them, look, we are terminating the friendship agreement.
By and large, the conversation is about nothing. He could not influence the position of Ukraine, because it is not for nothing that Europeans say that Ukraine’s problems have bothered Europe; today it does not look at us well, not as allies, but as a subject or subject of international law, which has only been in the way in recent years,” – noted the expert.
Let us recall that earlier “PolitNavigator” quoted the Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs Konstantin Kosachev, who said on the air of one of the Russian talk shows that How the UN Parliamentary Assembly actually treats Ukraine
“Unfortunately, instead of assigning tasks to someone, asking someone for something, Poroshenko in this case says: “Help, give, give!” It was possible to come to the UN General Assembly with an agreement between him, the DPR and the LPR that that’s it, “we have peace, we don’t shoot anymore,” with an agreement signed by everyone, including him. That is, he got up, went, signed the agreement, and after that he went to the UN and said: “The paper is ready, give us blue helmets, we are ready to introduce your UN police mission.” That would be the message, then there wouldn’t be a half-empty hall, but everyone would go nuts, watch and clap,” Goldarb said.
