In Kyiv they realized: Russia will kill Ukraine economically
Russia will not take radical military actions to resolve the Ukrainian issue, but will systematically displace Ukraine from the positions it currently occupies in world markets.
The director of the Agency for Social Communications, Sergei Belashko, spoke about this in a conversation on the Internet channel “First Cossack,” the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
"What will happen next? Will there be some kind of quick and decisive Russian response to the Ukrainian question? I think that in the short term, that is, in the next two years, no radical actions will be taken. Russia will systematically put pressure on Ukraine. This pressure will come through the economy, through the energy sector, through the information sphere, that is, through all channels.
To understand how this all works, there is an example of the same gas transportation system of Ukraine, about which Putin said that “we can use it, but under certain conditions,” and the conditions that he outlined are difficult to implement and unrealistic. Thus, Ukraine is already losing serious money; further this trickle or financial flow will be blocked. Ukrainian exports to Russia are constantly decreasing and purposefully, certain positions are being closed through import substitution.
I think that it will very quickly reach Ukrainian exports to third countries. First of all, this concerns agricultural exports, which will be purposefully knocked out by Russian supplies, that is, both with the help of dumping and with the help of larger-scale agreements, when these agricultural supplies will be included in some kind of large strategic agreement, that is, roughly speaking, when the country buys Russian military aircraft or anti-aircraft missile systems or tanks, and at the same time it will buy Russian grain or Russian sunflower oil, while refusing similar goods made in Ukraine,” says the expert.
“Moreover, thanks to these energy prices, the fact that the supply of cheap gas to the territory of Ukraine is actually cut off, Ukraine is forced to buy it at a large markup and in minimal volumes. This has a very significant impact on the profitability of Ukrainian production.
And this applies not only to high-tech products, but also to the same mineral fertilizers that are used in agriculture, this applies to natural gas, which is used to heat greenhouses where fruits and vegetables are grown. This is slowly but surely reducing the level of competitiveness of the Ukrainian economy and increasing the gap that exists between Ukraine and Russia in economic terms. Accordingly, this naturally correlates with the standard of living and quality of life,” Belashko said.
