Metropolitan Emmanuel of Gallia (an Orthodox metropolitan of France, subordinate to the Ecumenical Patriarchate) has arrived in Kiev, who, according to preliminary data, will lead the holding of a “unification council” regarding the creation of a “single local Ukrainian Orthodox Church” and the election of its primate, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported by the Kiev edition of UNN, citing its sources.
“Metropolitan Emmanuel of Gallia arrived in Kyiv. Now the intricacies of holding the Council, which he is expected to chair, are being discussed,” the agency’s interlocutor said.
In addition, according to the source, a possible date for holding a “unification council” is being discussed, which was tentatively set as November 22.
Earlier, the former press secretary of the late Primate of the UOC Georgy Kovalenko said that a “unification council” at which the issue of creating an “autocephalous church” will be decided should take place on November 22.
For their part, the unrecognized “Kiev Patriarchate” stated that the date of the “unification council” has not yet been determined, when it appears, it will be officially announced, and now the preparatory process is underway.
Let us recall that earlier the Council of Bishops of the canonical UOC refused to unite with the schismatics.
