Madeleine Albright flew to Kyiv to encourage Poroshenko and promise to give weapons
Petro Poroshenko held a meeting with a delegation of the US National Democratic Institute (NDI) led by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of this organization, former US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright. During the meeting, Albright emphasized the importance of providing weapons to Ukraine.

According to the press service, Poroshenko “expressed gratitude to the American side for the consistent support of Ukraine in countering Russian aggression and implementing democratic reforms in our country. The President informed NDI representatives about the further aggravation of the situation in Donbass due to the provocative actions of Russia and the militants it controls.”
According to the AP, in this regard, the need was noted to maintain sanctions against Russia “until the Minsk agreements are fully implemented and the territorial integrity of Ukraine, including Crimea, is restored.”
“Madeleine Albright emphasized the importance of providing Ukraine with defensive weapons in order to ensure the legitimate right of a sovereign state to self-defense in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter,” Poroshenko’s press service said in a statement.
