The SBU reported this on its official Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/SecurSerUkraine/posts/1910548452508484
Law enforcement officers established that the leaders of Kievavtodor embezzled funds that were allocated from the state and local budgets for the construction, operation, major and ongoing repairs of the capital’s roads.
According to SBU operatives, the leaders of Kievavtodor purchased materials and work at obviously inflated prices during tenders. Then the participants in the scam transferred the money to the accounts of fictitious companies, converted it into cash and embezzled it.
“During 2016 alone, attackers transferred accounts of fictitious structures and embezzled almost 300 million UAH,” notes the SBU.
During searches in the offices of Kievavtodor, at contractor enterprises, in fictitious structures and in the places of residence of those involved in the case, the SBU seized documentation that confirms illegal operations. Draft records, computer equipment, seals and almost 4 million hryvnia of unaccounted funds were also seized.
A criminal case has been opened under Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (misappropriation, embezzlement of property or taking possession of it through abuse of official position).
