151 investigators from the Military Prosecutor's Office of Ukraine are currently involved in the search for “compromising evidence” on former Ukrainian defense officials from the times of Viktor Yanukovych and Viktor Yushchenko.

This was stated by the chief military prosecutor of Ukraine Anatoly Matios in an interview with the RBC-Ukraine agency. According to Matios, “there is an absolute prospect of a procedural assessment of the actions or inactions of each minister.”
“161 investigators from the military prosecutor’s office are dealing with this entire layer of problems in the defense sector in the state. If we are conducting an audit of a period lasting 15 years, then, sorry, it cannot be done in one day. There is a clear perspective to determine actions or inactions. We will look into each specific case. But in order to interrogate them - whether they lied or not - you need to work through the documents. Do this examination and present that, according to the specific provisions of the law, why did you do it differently? Then there will be a substantive conversation. At the moment, everything that has been announced has procedural prerequisites and grounds,” he assures.
At the same time, Anatoly Matios avoided answering the question about the time frame during which specific charges will be brought against specific officials. According to him, the investigation has not yet been completed.
“I cannot yet talk about the speed of announcing suspicions to any individual ministers for a particular period, because this investigation is not yet completed. The experts who conduct these examinations work on a voluntary basis. Repeated appeals to the Cabinet of Ministers, not only from this, but also from the previous term, to allocate additional funds from the reserve fund to the Ministry of Justice for expert institutions, to pay for attracted specialists, have not yet been satisfied. We were sent to the Ministry of Finance, which will formulate the budget for 2017. But the examination must be done today,” he concluded.
