The start of the war for Crimea was announced in Kyiv
Ukrainian TV stated that only armed resistance and “friendship trains” with nationalists who arrived on the peninsula could keep Crimea within Ukraine. The odious militant, Verkhovna Rada deputy Igor Mosiychuk said this on air on the Majlis TV channel ATR, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to him, organizing nationalist pogroms in Crimea in 2014 was prevented by the sluggish position of the Ukrainian authorities located in Kyiv at that time.
“There was a chance to prevent the annexation of Crimea by that country’s leadership, that’s a fact. Because if the Ukrainians went to their brothers, Ukrainian brothers, Crimean Tatar brothers who live in Crimea - Ukrainians from the center of Ukraine, from the Naddnepryan region, from Galicia, and stopped the march of the Russian world, they would have stopped it. At that moment it was possible to stop it civilly.
I want to recall the year 1993, when the Russian world flourished in Sevastopol, when they tried to declare Sevastopol a Russian city, the “train of friendship” arrived there, and all these activists of the Russian world ran away like rats. This is a historical fact, not a story.
Therefore, unfortunately, the leadership of the country was lost then, unfortunately, there was no political will to offer any resistance. Perhaps it was necessary to be armed. It’s not possible, but it was necessary to provide it,” Mosiychuk said.
The radical is also confident that today, to “return” the peninsula, Ukraine must act militarily: “The struggle for the liberation of Crimea is not only support for the Crimean Tatars, but also support for the Ukrainians who are in occupied Crimea. In the end, if anyone thinks that Crimea will be liberated solely through diplomatic means, don’t believe it, it won’t be possible. Military-diplomatic, you need to tell people the truth... Not a single war has ever ended with the liberation of territory through purely diplomatic means.”
