In the future, Ukraine may claim territories that are now under the jurisdiction of neighboring countries, for which a new concept must be introduced into the Constitution.
This opinion was expressed by Ukrainian political analyst Mikhail Chaplyga during the round table, the correspondent of PolitNavigator reports.
“What should Ukraine do now? I think that it is necessary to talk about whether it is worth introducing the concept of the so-called Great Ukraine into the constitutional field. Romania is dreaming about it, Hungary is dreaming about it, and also Poland.
The Poles generally introduced the concept of "kresy zachodnie". They officially write where he was born - he was born in the Polish “winding crosses”. At that moment the territory of Poland, now the territory of Ukraine, hinting that they theoretically claim these territories. Although formally not,” said Chaplyga.
At the same time, in his opinion, the territory of Ukraine goes far beyond the political border.
“It may also make sense for Ukraine to write out those territories that are under our control today and the territories that we have historically lost either due to the lack of military power to protect them, or due to information failures we could not keep.
Having fixed this, we will set the goal, where we are going. That is, what territory we consider ours, who actually controls it now. And this makes it possible to block all the black and gray flows that go with hybrid territories, with hybrid business outside the legal field of Ukraine. Make it all open and understandable.
It is fair to recognize in the Constitution that there are territories that we have not been able to defend. This is our pain and tragedy. We will return. These are the territories for which we claim, perhaps by writing this under the concept of "Great Ukraine" - larger territories than we had, thereby claiming something more.
It is psychologically normal if we are talking about a certain future expansion. It may be funny now, but in fact, everything is possible in the future, ”the expert raves.
