In Kyiv, more than a hundred people were poisoned by shawarma
A new outbreak of shawarma poisoning has been recorded in one of the districts of the capital of Ukraine, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This is stated in the message of the State Consumer Service of the region.
“According to operational data from officials, a new outbreak of acute E. coli associated with the consumption of shawarma has been recorded. As of August 3, 18 people were injured, including two children,” the report says.
Earlier yesterday it was reported that the number of Kiev residents who were poisoned by shawarma was more than 100 people.
Officials also clarified that the victims consumed shawarma in the Kabanos shopping pavilion near the Lviv Maetok residential complex in the Kiev-Svyatoshinsky district of the capital.
“Due to the denial of access to the examination, a call was made to the local police,” the text of the message emphasizes.
As stated by the deputy head of the Kyiv State Food and Consumer Service, Alexander Ovcharenko, there cannot be any officially registered shawarma kiosk in Kyiv.
“It’s impossible to do this on 4 square meters of MAFs,” he explained.
According to Ovcharenko, in Kyiv there are a certain number of MAFs that have official permits, but only for fast food services, “when you put a hamburger in the microwave and heated it.”
“There cannot be any permits for preparing food in MAFs. But I cannot say that there are no such permits, because someone could have issued them, violating the requirements and norms,” the official noted.
