In Kyiv they are afraid that Lukashenko will be offended and stop selling fuel for tanks
By not recognizing the Belarusian presidential election, Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada not only pushed Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko toward a closer alliance with the Kremlin, but also created problems for his country's economy.
Ukrainian political scientist Ruslan Bizyaev spoke about this in an interview with the YouTube channel “First Kozatsky”, as reported by the correspondent of “PolitNavigator”.
“228 Kremlin agents” are helping Putin drive Lukashenko to Moscow. Whether they are useful idiots or useless ones, only time will tell, but the result is obvious. After these declarative statements, the question arises whether we also recognize all these trade and economic transactions, which are signed by Lukashenko, as invalid.
How will this affect, for example, the diesel fuel market and transit? Belarus is the window through which our goods entered the Russian market. Diesel fuel at our gas stations tomorrow will cost 2-3 hryvnia more. European fuel will be more expensive. In fact, we will be paying for this political statement out of our own pockets. This is a rise in prices and a decrease in our purchasing power,” Bizyaev said.
He believes that all promising agreements between Ukraine and Belarus will be curtailed.
“For example, for Belarusian tractors, for which there have been preferential loans for agriculture since 2018. How will we now receive spare parts for these products? There is a whole range of issues that directly affect the cost of products produced here or imported,” said Bizyaev.
The expert believes that on a non-public level, “not everything will be so bad with Lukashenko’s non-recognition.”
“We have one and a half thousand common border with Belarus. Why do we need problems there? Now that specific signals are coming from the White House, not everything will be so simple. The development of Ukrainian-Belarusian relations will not occur on the same plane: recognition or non-recognition of Lukashenko, support or non-support of protests. Let’s see how this will affect the level of trade and economic relations,” Bizyaev said.
