In Kyiv they are afraid: After Transnistria there will be no way out of federalization
If Transnistria returns to the control of Chisinau with special rights, as proposed by Moldovan President Igor Dodon, this could become a dangerous precedent for Ukraine, which will have to agree to similar concessions to Donbass.
Political scientist Vladimir Fesenko, who until recently served the administration of Petro Poroshenko, stated this on air on the UkrLife Internet channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“There is a risk of creating some kind of federation of Moldova and Transnistria, this is a Russian plan, it is dangerous for us in the sense that it will be used as a model, that the problem in Ukraine must be solved in exactly the same way. This is really dangerous,” Fesenko believes.
Let us recall that Dodon has repeatedly called on Transnistria to forget about independence or reunification with Russia.
“You need to choose, our dear Pridnestrovians. There will never be independence. There will be no status of a subject of the Russian Federation. But we will find a form for unification within a single state – a federal one. Let’s sit down and discuss this,” Dodon said.
However, the President of the PMR, Vadim Krasnoselsky, said that Pridnestrovie is close to recognition by the world community; Tiraspol rejects the plan proposed by Dodon to return the PMR to the control of Chisinau as a member of the federation.
