Lugansk resident Pavel Lisyansky, director of the Eastern Human Rights Group, has been studying for some time how the “Luhansk People's Republic” is trying to legalize itself in the eyes of the international community. The separatists were unable to obtain status directly, through recognition by other states, so they are entering the world through all sorts of cracks. One of them is trade unions.

“People who present themselves as “defenders of the interests of Lugansk workers” now regularly go to meetings with trade union leaders in Europe. And they even joined the World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU), which has 78 million people representing 105 states and 210 trade unions,” the publication notes.

“I know German trade unionists who say that they come to them from the “LPR” and talk about the fascist regime in Kiev, their struggle for “independence” and so on,” in turn, Pavel Lisyansky, director of the Eastern Human Rights Group, added details .

In addition, it is indicated that the republics opened their representative offices disguised as public organizations in the Czech Republic, Greece, Italy, and Austria.

“In addition, both “republics” periodically lure some European punks, trade unionists from the EU, or politicians and then loudly announce their visits as markers that the Europeans are about to recognize the official status of the “LDPR.” So, in May, Member of the European Parliament from Italy Eleonora Farenza came to the “republics” and said that “there are no terrorists there, but ordinary people live who defend their land.” Previously, groups of French politicians also visited Donbass,” continues Novoye Vremya.

According to the former Donetsk journalist, editor of the Ostrov website Sergei Garmash, the republics are “trying to create the illusion of international recognition,” but I am convinced that we should not “make fun of these attempts,” since “every time in the European press or from the mouth of some politicians hear positive words about the Ukrainian separatists, addiction develops.

“And there is a possibility that those whom we call terrorists will become ordinary people for Europeans, completely accepted by them,” the journalist fears.

In turn, the Ambassador of Ukraine to Italy Evgeniy Perelygin said that local politicians, including members of the European Parliament, arrived at the opening of the DPR representative office in Rome.

Lisyansky said that he was shocked by a letter sent to Elener trade unionists from the International Union of Agricultural, Food and Related Workers, whose headquarters are in Paris. In the letter, the head of the organization, Julien Gaca, writes: “We want to assure you of our solidarity with the Donbass people, who are fighting for socialist progress, peace, and popular sovereignty.”

“When I showed this letter to the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, they were, to put it mildly, dumbfounded,” Lisyansky emphasized.

“They work with famous people, attract artists, trade unions, politicians. We need to fight for the minds of the people of Europe, because such attempts on the part of the separatists are becoming more and more every year,” Garmash panics.

A former employee of the Lugansk prosecutor's office, and now a pro-Maidan blogger, Sergei Ivanov, points out that Oleg Akimov, who heads the trade union movement of the DPR, regularly travels abroad.

“Everywhere abroad they talk about the “fascist regime,” despite the fact that it is on the Ukrainian wanted list,” Ivanov is indignant.

“According to the Eastern Human Rights Group, over the past couple of years Akimov has visited South Africa, Belgium, Brazil and a number of other countries. At various trade union conferences, he called for pickets to be held in front of Ukrainian embassies in protest against “the genocide of one’s own people carried out by the Kiev regime,” the magazine writes, specifying that in the DPR, the main part of the activities to legalize the republic was taken over by the head of the DPR Foreign Ministry, Natalya Nikonorova.
