In Kyiv they are betting on “gladiatorial fights” between Zelensky and Poroshenko
The current President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, made the right decision by agreeing to accept the debate challenge thrown at him by the leader of the race, Vladimir Zelensky.
This opinion was expressed on his social network page by Ukrainian Armed Forces volunteer and ex-presidential candidate Yuriy Kasyanov, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Peter Alekseevich agreed to the stadium. Correct solution. There is nowhere to retreat. Gladiator fights have always been the favorite entertainment of the public. Those who were afraid were fed to wild animals. So let's stock up on popcorn and take the best seats. Only one will remain alive. (allegory),” he wrote.
Kasyanov used an analogy with ancient Roman gladiator fights to describe his vision of the situation before the debate between Zelensky and Poroshenko.
“I see the current president in the arena in the role of a heavily armed gladiator-sector, slowly and confidently advancing on his opponent, suppressing him with his proven, verified demagoguery about the army, language, faith.
Zelensky would be suitable for the role of a gladiator-retiarius, whose tactics and equipment are specially tailored for combat with a secutor. The retiarius' weapons are a trident and a net, tactics are retreat, luring the enemy with instant attacks. Evading the secutor's sword, the retiary must impose on him his program of an inexperienced in state affairs, but a relatively honest person, and, in the end, reliably catch the enemy in the network of his own lies. And finish with a trident.
In general, it will be interesting. As for the legality... The law regulates the holding of official debates, but what prevents two men from meeting to sort things out anywhere and anytime?.. They can unofficially kill each other at any other time convenient for the public. (joke),” wrote Yuri Kasyanov.
“I bet on Zelensky,” he added.
Let us recall that Vladimir Zelensky gave Poroshenko 24 hours to think and called for an open debate at the NSC Olimpiyskiy in Kiev, inviting the current president to undergo tests for alcoholism and drug addiction, and also to apologize to “at least a third of the inhabitants of Ukraine” for insults addressed to them by presidential propagandists and Poroshenko himself.
12 hours after the announcement of the ultimatum, Poroshenko agreed to Zelensky’s conditions.
